“FAR OUT” THE SUMMARY
The Apple event has been the talk of the town for the past one month. People have been eagerly awaiting the release of the next set of Apple products and Apple’s “Far Out” event proved to be just what was anticipated. Being the first in-person event since the pandemic began, the hype was unreal.
The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, came back to the stage with a bang, bearing the news about several new products and their robust features. In the watch category, three new models have been introduced: Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra. Series 8’s most notable upgrade is the temperature sensor for advanced women’s health and wellness tracking, which essentially tracks the menstrual cycle, so that female users have one less thing to worry about. The watch will last a longer duration now, thanks to the low power that has been included. Apple Watch Ultra is finally here and is better than ever. Apart from the fitness-tracking tools, the larger case and great water resistance cater to athletes and adventure lovers. The Apple Watch SE is the more pocket-friendly option for all those who want to try out the watches for the first time. It has many of the exciting features of Series 8, excluding a few.
The announcement of the much-awaited AirPods Pro has come our way. This second-generation AirPods Pro is the most advanced AirPods yet, bringing onboard the transparency mode which adjusts the sound according to the noise in the surrounding.
Finally, coming to the iPhones. Four new models have been launched which include iPhone 14, iPhone 14 plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The most eye-catching feature of this launch is undoubtedly satellite communication. This is an exclusive feature that is available only on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Emergency SOS via satellite is a fallback emergency system that’ll be hidden until needed. It only activates when there is no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage at all. But one catch to this feature is the fact that the user has to be outside for the satellite connection to work. A clear view of the sky and horizon poses to be the perfect scenario. To help users, the iPhone is set to provide guidance to point in the right direction to pick up on the emergency satellite and keep the orientation properly during the emergency session. It is also to be noted that the feature might not work in places above 62° latitude such as northern parts of Canada and Alaska. This feature is unfortunately not yet available in India, but we all hope for it to come soon.
Another exclusive feature of the new models is the dynamic island. This is also a feature of the pro and pro max models. The Dynamic Island is a pill-shaped cutout housing the TrueDepth camera. Now, users can interact with it too, without disturbing the content of the screen. System-wide alerts and contextual information now appear at the top rather than taking up other parts of iOS.
